Meet The Vets

Dr Joe Covelli

Dr Joe CovelliDr Joe Covelli graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1990. After graduation, Joe worked in small animal practice in Melbourne for three years. At that point Joe decided to design and build The Hoppers Crossing Veterinary Clinic and Hospital which he opened in 1994. As well as his degree in Veterinary Science with honours he also completed a four year Masters degree program in 1998 and now holds a Masters Degree in small animal internal medicine and surgery.

The hospital is now a modern facility employing seventeen pet health care professionals.  Joe actively attends continuing education and has supported student training at the University of Melbourne Veterinary School and Veterinary Nurse Training at Victoria University.

Joe is a local boy from the Western Suburbs of Melbourne. His interests include kung-fu, walking, listening to music, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. Joe is married with two children and is actively involved in their school and extracuricular activities.


Dr Kristi Green

Dr Kristi Green

Dr Kristi Green has been partners in the clinic with Dr Covelli for the last 5 years, having joined the team as a new graduate 15 years ago.  Kristi grew up in Hoppers Crossing and has all her family living close to our clinic.She knows many of our clients as friends or school mates. Kristi married Andrew in 2005 and they have three gorgeous children to keep them both busy- twins Oscar and Letitia and baby Millie. The kids are all animal lovers too!

Kristi completed her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Melbourne with honours in Zoology and then graduated with first class honours from her Veterinary science degree, studying at the local Vet School. In 2000 she also completed a Post Graduate diploma in small animal internal medicine. Kristi enjoys investigating medical cases, all types of soft-tissue surgery and also enjoys seeing small pets such as rats, guinea pigs and rabbits. She is really enjoying learning to use our ultrasound machine. Kristi writes a monthly pet column for "The Star" Newspaper group.

Kristi's furry children are Pearl the deaf pussycat, Charlie the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a collection of goldfish. Sadly her Australian Cattle dog Ruby passed away aged 12 yrs in November 2010.


Dr Veronica Damian

Dr VeronicaDr Veronica Damian completed her veterinary degree in 2000 in Mexico City, and worked in small animal private practice. In 2003 she came to Australia to do a Masters Degree in Diagnostic Imaging at The University of Melbourne. After successful completion of her Masters Degree in 2004 Veronica returned to Mexico City where she started her own Mobile Veterinary Ultrasound business. Her ‘Aussie’ husband Craig brought her back to Melbourne in 2006. Veronica then began work in diverse fields including research at The University of Melbourne in the development of vaccines against tapeworm parasites, and assisting specialist veterinary surgeons in Melbourne while preparing for the Australian National Veterinary Exam, which she passed in 2008. In 2009 she started working at The Hoppers Crossing Veterinary Clinic & Hospital, and also gained her membership (by examination) of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists (Radiology Chapter).

Veronica has a lovely cat called Mateo who was adopted after been abandoned in the car park of the University of Melbourne Veterinary School.

As a teenager Veronica was a member of the Mexican Olympic Gymnastics Team. Veronica’s current interests include oil painting, cycling and spending time with family and friends.


Dr Sarah Toogood

Sarah graduated from Murdoch University in Western Australia, in 2006, and shortly after this returned to her home state of Victoria. She joined our team in December 2008. Sarah has a keen interest in both medicine and surgery, and loves attending veterinary conferences and lectures. She recently attended a 10- week Behaviour course with Behaviour vet Dr Gabrielle Carter and is keen to help you with your pets behavioural problems.

Sarah loves coming home to her two Burmese cat brothers Ziggy (lilac) and Astro (cream) who celebrate their second birthday in April but still act like they are kittens! Her current interests include running, gardening and listening to music and she also loves to travel.



Dr Dennis Wormald

Dr Dennis WarmaldDr Dennis Wormald graduated from the University of Melbourne with honours in 2010 and joined the clinic in December 2010. Before his veterinary degree Dennis completed a Biomedical Science degree and a Science degree (Honours) where he studied behavioural neuroscience in mice. Dennis has also passed the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination and has special interests in Neurology and Behavioural Medicine. Dennis has spent 5 weeks with Australia’s only registered specialist in Veterinary Behavioural Medicine at her referral practice in Sydney. He currently runs our Puppy Preschool classes and gives Veterinary Behaviour Consultations.

Dennis has a 9 year old beagle named Bunji who currently lives with his family in Melbourne. Bunji recently tore a ligament in his knee and Dennis had to do a surgery to fix it, photos are on our Facebook Page. He enjoys using computers and staying up to date with the latest technology. He updates this website regularly and has created a Hoppers Crossing Vet Clinic Facebook page, please visit it and "like" to see regular photos of our puppy preschool graduates and information on current promotions. He also supervises Veterinary Science students at the Werribee campus who are living in college.


Dr Roslyn Choi

Roslyn graduated from Melbourne University Veterinary Science at the end of 2011. She started work at the clinic in November 2008 as a veterinary nurse. Since graduating we were very lucky to be able to employ her as a vet! She has always lived in Hoppers Crossing wanting to become a vet and is looking forward to graduating in the year 2011. Working at the Hoppers Crossing Veterinary Clinic as a receptionist and a trainee nurse has provided her with the valuable experience and exposure to the profession. She thoroughly enjoys her time here as she is constantly learning something new everyday!


Dr Peta Keown

Peta graduated from Melbourne University Veterinary Science at the end of 2004. After working at a range of other clinics while raising her children, she started work at this clinic again in September 2011 as a part time veterinarian. Peta has had extensive experience in emergency medicine. Peta and her partner Matt have two children named Oliver and Elijah.
